This 26 year-old female wanted reduction of her nose. One of the great challenges in operating on African-American noses is that the skin is thicker, and this makes improving the visible definition more difficult. The pictures displayed are preoperative and at 6 weeks after the operation.

Frontal view: The big change that you see is in the overall size of the nose. Aesthetically, we want the nose to fit in the space between the inner corners of the eyes. Before surgery she was much larger, and after she fits quite nicely. Her tip is significantly more defined and the dorsum (upper nose) is thinner .

Lateral view: This shows that her nose remains well projected from her face while removing the downward hook at the tip.

Caudal view: These pictures demonstrate the improvement in the width of the nose, the height of the tip, the shape of the nostril (more vertical and less horizontal) and the overall shape of the tip becoming more pyramidal. Also, you should note the scar that is used to access the nose. This scar will fade even more over the months that follow.
